Day 2 - The wall goes up

A full crew showed up today, competing with trash collection. But they accomplished quite a bit. The paving stones arrived and are parked in front of the house. Rocks arrive tomorrow. The 18-inch concrete wall is well underway and the deck surface was dug and filled with over 4 inches of road base.

Day 1 - Taking shape

The Pacific Pavingstone team showed up and began digging out the grass area and trenching a foundation for the sitting wall. At the end of Day 1 they had made a lot of progress and we could start to see what was to be.

The Horseshoe Deck project begins

For years Lynne has been saying, "Why do we water the lawn in the horseshoe shaped area in the backyard? Nobody uses it. Maybe we could just gravel it in and put some chairs there for people to sit and enjoy the view of the pool and the backyard."

Well, we started digging up the grass and found a lot of roots from the surrounding trees. And, we decided that maybe gravel wouldn't be the best. It would end up in the pool, in the house and as a new digging area for the dogs.

So, we put the job out to bid to put in a sitting wall, two short columns with craftsman lanterns, and a deck of pavers. The project has begun.
